EAPAA welcomes both individuals and organisations involved in delivering or benefiting from Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). All Provider members agree to uphold EAPAA’s Standards and Code of Ethics.

Membership Categories

Clinical / Professional

  • For individuals delivering EAP services (e.g., psychologists, counsellors, social workers, Occupational therapist, Addiction counsellor).  

    A minimum of 3 years of EAP experience is a prerequisite.

    • Everyone must follow our code of ethics.‍ ‍

    • Minimum of three years and experience delivering EAP services

    • Current professional registration with a recognised body

    • Demonstrated understanding of EAP-specific practice

    • Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to EAP work

Affiliate

  • For professionals with a strong interest in EAP but who are not clinical EAP counsellors – including HR specialists, wellbeing leaders, allied health professionals, and EAP administrators. Individual person, not companies

    • Everyone must follow our code of ethics.

    • Relevant experience or engagement in the employee wellbeing sector

    • Where applicable: current professional registration or certification

    • Overview of your interest in EAPs or role in wellbeing

    • References or endorsement may be requested for verification

Provider Organisation – Small (1-5)

  • For provider organisations delivering internal or external services – a minimum of three years of operational experience is required, along with evidence of a clinical governance structure.  Membership is offered in a tiered structure based on organisation size.

    • All providers must meet EAPAA’s service standards and code of ethics. This confirmation form must be signed and uploaded to the online application form.

    • A minimum of three years of operational experience delivering EAP services

    • A defined clinical governance structure, including:

      • A senior clinical leader overseeing practice

      • Professionally registered practitioners

      • Documented procedures for:

        • Privacy and confidentiality

        • Complaints handling

        • Clinical records management

        • Oversight of subcontracted professionals

        • Ongoing staff training and development

    Organisations must provide:

    • A summary of their EAP services and operational model

    • Two professional referees

    • Supporting documentation demonstrating compliance with EAPAA Standards and Code of Ethics

Student / Emerging Professional

  • For students or early-career professionals with less than three years’ experience in a related field.

    • Everyone must follow our code of ethics.

    • Proof of current enrolment or qualification in a relevant academic or professional program

    • Emerging professionals must provide a resume or brief career summary

    • A professional reference may be required

Provider Organisation – Large (14+)

  • For provider organisations delivering internal or external services – a minimum of three years of operational experience is required, along with evidence of a clinical governance structure.  Membership is offered in a tiered structure based on organisation size.

    • All providers must meet EAPAA’s service standards and code of ethics. This confirmation form must be signed and uploaded to the online application form.

    • A minimum of three years of operational experience delivering EAP services

    • A defined clinical governance structure, including:

      • A senior clinical leader overseeing practice

      • Professionally registered practitioners

      • Documented procedures for:

        • Privacy and confidentiality

        • Complaints handling

        • Clinical records management

        • Oversight of subcontracted professionals

        • Ongoing staff training and development

    Organisations must provide:

    • A summary of their EAP services and operational model

    • Two professional referees

    • Supporting documentation demonstrating compliance with EAPAA Standards and Code of Ethics

Provisional Provider - (Less than 3 years EAP service)

  • For newer providers who are building towards full EAPAA compliance but do not yet meet all service standards.  Please note that this is a limited 12-month membership after which time the organisation/provider must be compliant with EAPAA professional standards of practise.

    • All providers must meet EAPAA’s service standards and code of ethics. This confirmation form must be signed and uploaded to the online application form.

    • Operational EAP services in place, but less than 3 years’ experience or partial compliance with standards

    • Commitment to meet EAPAA’s Professional Standards of Practice within 12 months

    • Must provide:

      • A description of current service delivery

      • Details of clinical oversight

      • Two referees

      • Any available documentation related to privacy, complaints handling, records, training, and governance


    Note: This is a time-limited membership (12 months only). Organisations must demonstrate compliance within that timeframe to transition to full Provider Membership.

Provider Organisation – Medium (6-14)

  • For provider organisations delivering internal or external services – a minimum of three years of operational experience is required, along with evidence of a clinical governance structure.  Membership is offered in a tiered structure based on organisation size.

    • All providers must meet EAPAA’s service standards and code of ethics. This confirmation form must be signed and uploaded to the online application form.

    • A minimum of three years of operational experience delivering EAP services

    • A defined clinical governance structure, including:

      • A senior clinical leader overseeing practice

      • Professionally registered practitioners

      • Documented procedures for:

        • Privacy and confidentiality

        • Complaints handling

        • Clinical records management

        • Oversight of subcontracted professionals

        • Ongoing staff training and development

    Organisations must provide:

    • A summary of their EAP services and operational model

    • Two professional referees

    • Supporting documentation demonstrating compliance with EAPAA Standards and Code of Ethics
